Confession

"In Warts and All! one of the men confesses to abusing his wife. Spouse abuse is a crime. It is the duty of the others in the room to turn him into the police, not accept him as a repentant sinner and let it go at that."

The Lord was in the process of delivering these Christians from legalism to His mercy and grace. Such a betrayal of this man's confidence as you suggest would not have occurred to them.

Jesus wants to remind you of a Bible event that we read about beginning in John 8:3. The teachers of the law brought in a woman caught in adultery. In those days adultery was a crime. A crime punishable by death! The lawyers stated the law, which said that such a woman must be stoned to death. Jesus' response was to say to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." They began to leave one at a time. No one cast a stone. Jesus told the woman that He didn't condemn her either, but instructed her to go and leave her life of sin. If you had been present, would you have thrown a stone at this woman?
