Rebecca's Obituary

Portrait of Rebecca

WEST, Rebecca Lynn Wagner, 68.

Rebecca Lynn West was born in Carmi, Illinois on October 26, 1943 and completed her life on earth at Elizabeth House Hospice Hospital, Flat Rock, North Carolina on May 7, 2012.

Rebecca was an author and gospel recording artist who had appeared on TV stations in Chicago and Marion Illinois, and TBN in California, Richmond Indiana, and Miami Florida.

A pastor's daughter, Rebecca started singing in her dad's church at the age of three. She travelled extensively with her family's singing group for years. She has performed at the Jim Stafford Theater in Branson Missouri, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tennessee, and Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis Missouri, as well as many other auditoriums and churches across the United States. She has also been the Guest Coordinator and Co-Host for TV 50 in Alton Illinois.

Rebecca's most recent book release, Sunshine on the Mountain, along with her music ministry, has inspired many. Her website, www.RebeccaWest.org, continues to reach and minister to people worldwide, especially women.

Rebecca was predeceased by her parents: C.A. and Veta Elizabeth (Bratton) Wagner. She is survived by her devoted husband of three years, Robert Alton (Bob) West, Jr. of Brevard North Carolina; a brother, David (and his wife Darla) Wagner; a sister, Barbara (and her husband Fred) Church; and her nephew, Mark (and his wife Jennifer) Church (and their three children), all of Bethalto Illinois.

Rebecca didn't have any children herself, but she was "adopted" and dearly loved by Bob's children and grandchildren who thought of her as mother and grandmother.

In accordance with Rebecca's wishes, her body was cremated.

A celebration of her life was held at the River of Life Family Church in Alton, Illinois on June 2, 2012. Popular evangelist and lifelong friend Martha Tennison and pastor Mark Church officiated.

A beautiful flowering Flame Azalea bush will be planted with Rebecca's ashes in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina near the front entrance of the home where she and Bob spent three very happy years together. The engraved marker placed in loving memory next to the bush will include her name, dates of birth and death, and the inscription "Bob's Sunshine on the Mountain."

Rebecca's family wishes to thank all those who have responded and continue to respond with compassion, prayers, and words of encouragement. God bless you.
