Good lookin' ?!!

I looked around to see if anyone else was here reading your e-mail. :-)

Reminds me of a song by Hank Williams. Ever hear it? "... what ya got cookin' ?"

Bette sounds exhausted. I told her that she needs a vacation. Like the one we had last year. We were like a couple of little kids having a party. That's what we'll have this year. Only this time there will be three "little kids." Have you started packing yet?

It has been overcast and raining here since Sunday night. And chilly. Right now at 10:30 a.m. it is around 50 degrees and wet outside. You asked about how the weather might be during your visit. Ask Bette what she thinks. She was here last year and it was around the same time of year (I think). I remember her saying it was pretty hot on the trip over and back. But not so hot here on Rich Mountain. I'm at 3,000 feet (about a thousand feet above Brevard). And in the woods. Lots of shade, with a little open space in the yard, but trees right up next to the house. I don't have air conditioning, but plenty of windows and shade on the south side. And a ceiling fan in the great room. Seems like there might be a few days in August when I might notice the heat inside the house (mainly upstairs), but not bad and not for long. It is always cool on the lower level (where you and Bette will be sleeping). I think we usually wore a light jacket when we went out during the day. Ask Bette what she thinks.

(Well, Bob, stop talking to Rebecca and get to work.) Sorry, Rebecca, OFC is calling my name...

Have a great day!

Hugs back at ya!

Bob

Yes, Bob, we will be three little kids having a party!! I love that. I don't think I will ever grow up! In fact, I have decided not to grow up, always keeping the child alive! That reminds me of a section of my book where I wrote about keeping the child alive! We are going to have fun!!!

I have started organizing my clothes for the trip! Not actually packing, but getting things together a little. I am excited! I know the vacation will be good for me and Bette and you too, if you can put up with 2 women at the same time!!!!! ha ha I am sure that you can. You are a confident man, and can handle anything!

I am at church and they are installing a security system... so it has been a little busy around here this morning. A lady just brought salads in for all of us here in the office, so I will eat my lunch and write again later!!

I have a leadership meeting to go to at 7 p.m. this evening ... here at church. As far as the singles group, its only once a month. I don't want to get too busy...

Bye for now, good lookin'!! This means you! No more looking around the room ---- ha.

Hello again!

I just met Bette for coffee and pie after I left the church office ----- we started talking about our trip, and she said how we were going to be like 3 kids together ----- so we were laughing and I told her I called you good lookin'!! So we started talking about you and the weather and everything else. We had a good time. By the way, it was all good about you!!! Of course! There is nothing but good to say!

I don't want to go to that meeting tonight... I want to stay home and rest... but I will see what I decide in the next few minutes here.....

So, I need to get something to drink, and take a break for now...

See ya later --- you good lookin' man.....(aka Dr Pepper)

Sending you a hug -----

Dear "the other" musketeer,

I had fun reading what you said about you and Bette having fun today. And the three of us having fun. Yes, I think we all need a vacation. So we'll take one.

I started to work on this week's OFC strip after I wrote to you this morning, but didn't get much done. It was lunch time before I knew it. And I was tired, even though I hadn't done much. So I ate lunch, and then watched a movie. When it was over, I started to go downstairs (to my studio), but noticed that the rain had stopped, the sun was out, and it was fairly warm outside. So I decided to replace the door knob and lock set on my front door. The one that has been there since we built the house (about 25 years ago) had just about worn out. It was difficult to lock and didn't seem secure anymore. I bought a new one a couple of months ago and have been waiting for nice weather, since I would have to work on it with the door open, and not only for a good day but also for a convenient time when I felt like doing the work. It required that I use muscles I don't normally use and to get down on the brick floor on my knees, etc. So when I finished, I didn't feel like working on OFC. And there was something on the radio that I wanted to listen to, so I leaned back in the recliner and listened. And I may have even dozed off for a few moments. And then it was supper time.

I have finished supper and the dishes, and I'm reading another chapter or two in a book I am reading at mealtimes. And then I checked my e-mail, and am writing this one. I may even get some more done on OFC before I go to bed. We'll see.

Probably not though. It is already 8:30 and I plan to get up early in the morning to go to the men's fellowship at the coffee cafe downtown. Then I will eat breakfast at Julie's, and gas up the car, go to Walmart and the grocery store, etc. I need a haircut, but plan to wait until after the first of the month. (I have a couple of beautiful ladies coming to visit and I want to look my best. :-)

Thanks for both of your e-mails today. I enjoyed them. You're a funny girl.

Love and blessings,

Bob

Good Morning Bob (aka Dr Pepper, Musketeer, Good lookin')

I surprised myself and got up early this morning! Marilyn, another friend of mine from church, and I are going out for breakfast at 9 a.m. She is my "coffee partner", but we don't get together that much. We try to catch up on everything when we do get together. We always say that we are coffee partners that hardly ever have coffee together!! I remember the first time she and her husband came to church and I met them, Marilyn and I just "clicked" instantly as great friends.

Remind me to tell you and Bette a very funny story about my and Marilyn's trip to St. Louis. I think this is your busy day ----- and I must close and finish getting ready for my morning too. Have a beautiful day!!

I plan to work on my new article this afternoon.... "Dating After Divorce". Should be very interesting. I told Bette yesterday that I am going to bring the story in of Boaz and Ruth. I love that story, so I will work it into my article some way.

Bye for now Dr Pepper!

Hi Rebecca!

Thanks for blessing me with your e-mail. Also, for sharing a pre-publication copy of your article on dating after divorce. Good article (as always)!

I have had a full day. Got up real early (real early for me) so I could go through my morning routine of exercise, shaving, shower, etc., and drive downtown to be at the men's fellowship by 8 a.m. It was a good session. Not many there, but all participated and all of us were blessed.

Julie's wasn't open for breakfast today because they were fixing a hot water problem and trying to get ready to serve lunch by noon. I was hungry, but didn't want to get in the McDonald's crowd for fast food, etc. Finally, I decided to try the Huddle House. It wasn't as good as Julie's and it was more expensive, but it was filling. Then I went to Lowe's to scout out their lighting department and see if they had any fixtures I could get in case Fred and I can't fix the problem I had recently with one of the ones in the upstairs hall bath. I found something, but hopefully we can fix the one I have when Fred has time. On the way out I ran into an old friend and we talked about what the Lord was doing in our lives for a while. He asked if I am going to Gatlinburg to the Gaither Family Fest the last weekend in May. I told him no. He and his wife go every year and he works as an usher so it only costs them for a motel room.

Then I went to Walmart and got some handkerchiefs and looked for some gloves in the cleaning supplies section. They didn't have what I wanted, but I got a pair later at the grocery store. I wanted something to protect my hands when I use a mixture of clorox and water to wash the spots of mold off the outside of the front door. It is on the north side of the house so it doesn't get any sun, so I have that problem every few years.

I saw one of my neighbors in Walmart and talked with her a few minutes. Then I went to the service station to get some gas for my car. By then it was lunch time, so I went to Julie's and got a hot dog all-the-way and (you guessed it) a Dr. Pepper. Then I did a little shopping at the grocery store and came home. I didn't do much after I put stuff away. Mainly rested in the recliner and listened to the radio.

I just didn't feel like working on OFC today. I'll try to get an early start tomorrow. I need to get in the habit of getting up earlier and break my habit of sleeping so late.

That's all the news from here in the Appalachians. Talk to you later. Have a restful night...

Love, blessings, and a hug,

Hi Rebecca!

FYI, I'm sending you a copy of the exchange Bette and I had today regarding her stomach problems and the scheduled procedure. The thought has come to me that the devil may be involved with this, and I felt like I should send this to you. I feel like the Lord wants you and me to pray for Bette. I expect you're already doing that, but it seemed important to share this.

Hope you're having a good day...

Love, Bob

Thank you, Bob. I am so glad you shared that with me --- because the thought had crossed my mind --- hoping our trip would not have to be canceled because of this!

I will continue to pray for her, and agree with you for her healing.

I called her this morning from the church to say hello and she was not feeling well at all. Thanks for sharing with me --- I know there is power in agreement.

Thanks Rebecca!

I believe the Lord wants all three of us (Musketeers) praying about this. You, Bette, and me. I prayed everything I could think of to say in English, and then I asked the Lord to please take control of my tongue and say whatever needs to be said regarding the attack on Bette, whether physical or an attack by evil spirits, or both, so that Bette will be healed. Then the Holy Spirit used my tongue. I did not understand what I was saying, but I knew it was the Holy Spirit speaking to the Father and Jesus the exact thoughts and words that needed to be expressed. And I had peace.

Be encouraged...

I'm sending this to Bette too.

Love to you both, Bob

Hi Bob,

Praise God!
Thanks so much for your prayers. I got a letter from Rebecca, too...

You have no idea how blessed I feel having you two do spiritual warfare for me while I was in limbo. How fortunate I am to have two such wonderful friends.!!!

I want to get Rebecca's article edited and posted tomorrow. It's called "Dating After Divorce". Following that article, I want to write an article called "Dating After Widowhood". So we will have one for both situations...

... Thank you and bless you for praying for me and doing spiritual warfare. Have a good night.

Love, Bette

Yes Bette! Praise God!!!

What wonderful news to hear that you're feeling better now.

Praise God (again)!! He is the One who prompted us to pray and do spiritual warfare. And He is the One who has brought us together to encourage each other and to do His will in our lives and in the lives of those He wants to use us to minister to. Both in person and on the internet, etc.

I, too, feel fortunate to have two such wonderful friends. You and Rebecca! I'm sure Rebecca feels the same way. Maybe this is confirmation of what I have been thinking after the Lord put the "Three Musketeers" thought in my spirit and my mind as it relates to the three of us. (I don't think I am assuming too much. It made sense to me, and even more so as time goes on.) Many years ago I heard the expression "The three Musketeers." While I was growing up, I think. It was the title of a book or movie or both. I never read the book or saw the movie (if there was one). The only other thing that stood out in my mind was the expression "All for one and one for all." After the thought came to mind, I looked up the word "musketeer" in the dictionary and found that it referred to a soldier and that the musket used is a rifle. And it fits. It makes sense. But we're soldiers spiritually, not physically. We're soldiers in the Lord's army and engaged in spiritual warfare.

I marvel at what the Lord has done in my life, and what He continues to do. I am blessed! And I know you are too.

I have a "date" with my daughter this afternoon. She sent me an e-mail yesterday, said Fred and their son Josiah have gone to Nevada to participate in a handgun and personal defense class at a firearms school. She asked if I would like to have a "date" to see a movie or eat out. Naturally, I said, "Yes." She will get off work early and pick me up around 3. We're going to the theater in Hendersonville (the one you and I went to when you were here last year) to see "Race to Witch Mountain." It looks like a good wholesome movie, and I've heard that it is. Then we'll eat somewhere in Hendersonville. Maybe at Cracker Barrel !!! :-)

I want to write to Rebecca too, but I'm running out of time (with all I have planned for today), so I think I will forward a copy of this to Rebecca.

Keep taking good care of yourself. The devil may not like it, but the "three musketeers" are going to get together for a fun-filled vacation very soon. And our Guardian Angels are going to have fun too!!!

Love and blessings,

Bob

Hi Rebecca!

I don't have much time to write today, but I wanted to take a moment or two and say "Hi" and share the good news that Bette sent me and my response to her (and you). So when you read what I wrote to her, please know that it is for you too.

I hope to get a little more done on OFC before Suzanne comes by to pick me up for our trip to the movies in Hendersonville. I'm really getting behind on my schedule for that, but I guess I should just relax and let the Lord determine my schedule. Easier said that done. But I'm making progress on "relaxing in the passenger seat and let the Lord give directions and do the driving." :-)

Have a wonderful day, wonderful lady...

Love and blessings,

Bob

Good Morning Dr Pepper!!

I just got up and found my way into the kitchen to make coffee. I always drink one glass of water before I drink my coffee, thinking somehow that will make up for the coffee I drink. Any way --- I drank quite a bit of iced tea last night before I went to bed ---- so I was up a few times --- if you know what I mean!

It is so beautiful here this Friday morning! I have the windows open, and just relaxing in the sunshine.

I love movies! You are going to have fun this afternoon with Suzanne!! Please tell her "hi" for me, and I am looking forward to meeting her too. I really love the way she treats you --- that says a lot about her to me. Maybe we can go to a movie while we are there? I would enjoy that if you would too. I haven't been to a movie in quite some time ----I am so ready for this vacation!!!

I am going to have shredded wheat with fresh strawberries for breakfast... so I guess I will close now, Dr Pepper.

Have a fun day!!! See ya soon!!

Love and a special hug on a Friday morning.

Happy Saturday morning to you, Funny Girl!

It is a nice sunshiny day here. 61 degrees with a high expected to be at 70. Hope you're having nice weather too.

I got up late. Just finished breakfast. Bacon, scrambled eggs, waffles, and apple juice. That should take me over to supper time, since it is 11:15 now.

Isn't this an exciting e-mail so far?!

Suzanne picked me up yesterday afternoon in her husband Fred's little Miata. He had driven their Subaru sedan to Josiah and Kate's home in Raleigh. After spending the night there (Wednesday night) he and Josiah drove to the Charlotte airport. They flew from there to Las Vegas. The school they went to is somewhere in that area. When they fly back to Charlotte early this coming week, Kate will be there to take Josiah back home in Raleigh. Fred will drive his car home to Brevard (about two hours). Anyway, the little Miata sits so close to the ground that it is really an effort for me to bend down to get in it, and also an effort to climb out and stand back up. Something like that has never appealed to me, but it is sporty and Fred likes it.

We got to the theater just in time to get seated before the previews started. And then the movie. "Race to Witch Mountain." It was a fun, wholesome, family movie. Lots of fast-paced action, but also funny at times. After the movie we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. Then Suzanne brought me home, and accepted my invitation for her to come in and visit a little while before she went home. She brought me up to date on what is happening with their children (my grandkids). Larissa is an RN taking care of premature babies in the hospital ICU in Missoula, Montana. Freddy and Kristie live in Columbia SC. Josiah and Kate in Raleigh. Freddy is an actuary working for Colonial Life Insurance. Josiah is a software engineer writing computer code for an online publishing company (the company that prints my books). Suzanne and I both had a good time. Now we go back to our busy schedules.

BTW, I told Suzanne that you said "Hi" and that you're looking forward to meeting her. She said she looks forward to meeting you too. I also told her that you said that you love the way she treats me and that the way she treats me tells you a lot about her. I could tell that really blessed her. I often tell her how proud I am of her.

Yes, I know what you mean about having to get up a few times during the night. I've had to do that for years. I seem to get enough sleep though.

And yes, certainly we can go to the movies while you're here if you want to. Yes, I would enjoy that. (Hopefully there will be at least one that will be suitable out of all those playing at that time. And we can also watch some here at home if I have any you're interested in (and I'm certain that I do). Last year Bette and I went to see C.S. Lewis' "Prince Caspian".

I am so far behind on this week's OFC that I would really be "uptight" now if I didn't keep remembering that the Lord said for me to "stop the doing and begin the being". I hope I am interpreting that correctly.

Well, that's all my news anyway. Except --- I saw your article about "dating after divorce" on DCJ this morning. Good article! Good advice! Bette said she is going to write one on "dating after the death of a spouse". So far I have decided that I won't be doing any dating myself, and that I will remain single and just focus on completing the work that the Lord has given me.

Bye for now, Rebecca Lynn.

Have a fun day!!!

Love and blessings and hugs,

Dr. Pepper
