The Power of Agreement

"One shall put a thousand to flight, but two shall put ten thousand to flight."

These were the words spoken to Bob and me by Richard Jennings the first time Bob introduced me to him and his wife Judy. It was an anointed word to us from the Holy Spirit. We were excited because we believed that God had a special plan for our ministry together. We still believe that, and we are seeing the manifestation of it every day.

Jesus said in Matthew 18:20, "For wherever two or three are gathered in My name, there I AM in the midst of them." Where there is agreement in His name, you will find God in the midst. What a wonderful atmosphere is felt when there is harmony, like-mindedness, and compatibility. That's a "hard to beat" combination! It is a combination that God loves.

An agreement is a bond between two or more people. When we enter into an agreement with God, the powers of darkness are weakened in every aspect. This type of agreement makes us strong against the tactics of satan. Agreement is vital in every aspect of our lives. In our marriage, in our ministry, with our families and friends, and in our business. When there is discord, the opposite of agreement, the Holy Spirit is not present. Where there is no unity, there is strife and confusion. A covenant agreement with the Holy Spirit will enable you to do so much more than if you were alone. An agreement between a husband and wife is strong as long as they are both in agreement with God.

When an agreement is broken, promises are broken and hearts are torn apart. This immediately gives an open door to the enemy. A broken agreement is like a broken cord that has been severed, allowing "discord" and every other scheme of satan to take effect. When we break our agreement with God, I believe His heart is broken too.

I hope you understand how important the power of Agreement can be. Solomon thought it was very important! In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, he said, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! ...Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves."

If you do not have someone to agree with you, perhaps about a decision you are trying to make, ask God to send someone who will agree with you in prayer that God's will be done in your decision. I believe He will send the right person -- someone who listens to the voice of God, and someone who is for you and not against you -- A true friend who loves you, a trusted son or daughter of God.

There are no limits to what God can do for you, and what you can accomplish in your life, when you are in agreement with Him, and when you are in agreement with others of like-mindedness. Surround yourself with people of harmony and love.

The Power of Love, Forgiveness, and Agreement all work together to make us better and enables us to walk in the likeness of Jesus, our perfect example. These are the shining silver threads that make our lives beautiful.
