Rebecca West: Words & Music

April Showers

April brings the warm gentle rain of Spring, refreshing the dry thirsty land.

In certain areas the dry ground has hardened, and is unable to accept the moisture that is so badly needed. Nothing can grow there in this forsaken place. The ground is cold and closed to the rain and the sunshine.

So it is with us, my friend. When our hearts are open, we are pliable in the Master's hand. When we are tender toward God, we are in a position to receive His bountiful blessings into our lives. If we have hardened our hearts toward God, we are not able to receive His love, that we so badly need. It is a difficult thing to recognize and receive His blessings without our willingness to do so. The seeds of love can not grow in a hardened heart. Somewhere along the way sorrow and suffering has taken your hand and held you there in their grasp. But there is hope. Always hope.

"Fear not, only believe. I promise that you shall not be put to shame. Go with sorrow and suffering, and if you can not welcome them now, when you come to the difficult places where you cannot manage alone, put your hands in theirs confidently and they will take you exactly where I want you to go... Trust is one of the most beautiful things in the world. When I look at the trust in your eyes, I find you more beautiful to look upon than a lovely queen." (excerpts from the book, "Hinds Feet in High Places")

Trust God, resting in the fact that He knows exactly what is going on in your life.

Be encouraged on your journey. Stay close to the Master. He knows the way in the valleys and also on the mountain tops.

"The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night." (Exodus 13:21, The Amplified Bible)

And finally, a verse I love from Habakkuk 3:19: "The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me walk upon mine high places."

Travel light and easy, my friend. The journey is wonderful with the Shepherd. Let the rains come when they may. There is always sunshine after the rain.
