The Beauty of a Woman

Beauty is spirit deep.

Aristotle said: "Beauty is a gift from God. Beauty without virtue is a flower without perfume."

"There is only one kind of beauty that can transcend time, and many women possess it. It is beauty of the spirit that lights the eyes and transforms even a plain woman into a beautiful one.

Women with intelligence, charm, and warmth, who are interested in others and forget about themselves, and who accept each stage of life gracefully, are the lasting beauties of this world, and the happiest.

Ralph Emerson said: "Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not." We have often heard that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Beauty must come from within us. When we have the Holy Spirit within us, we will perceive things differently than the world sees them and we will respond differently.

For the biblical description of a beautiful woman, we go to Proverbs 31:10 through verse 30. The beauty of a woman is described perfectly in this passage of scripture. She is a capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman, highly valued, and magnificently more than:
Miriam, the one who led a nation in praise to God.
Deborah, the patriotic military advisor.
Ruth, the woman of constancy.
Hamah, the ideal mother.
Huldah, the woman who revealed God's secret message to national leaders.
And even Queen Esther, the woman who risked sacrificing her life for her people.

The Proverbs 31 woman excels them all in her spiritual and practical devotion to God. "Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well (with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness), but you excel them all." (Proverbs 31:29, The Amplified Bible)

All of her virtues are like colored threads in a tapestry, interwining gloriously through every area and relationship of her life. Wisdom is the foundation she leans on, and it is the Holy Spirit within her that directs her steps and leads her to her destiny.

The beauty of a Proverbs 31 woman is valued by God and her husband as "far above rubies and pearls." (Proverbs 31:10, The Amplified Bible)
