Rebecca West: Words & Music

Bob's Career

Rebecca's husband, Bob West, is a graduate of the New England School of Art and the Famous Artists School. As an Air Force illustrator during the fifties, his comic strips and cartoons were published regularly in both military and civilian newspapers.

During the years that followed, Bob worked as an advertising artist for a national insurance company, as a graphic designer for an aerospace corporation, as an art director for an advertising agency, and as a freelance designer/illustrator serving Walt Disney World and other clients. He was a Deacon and an Elder in an Orlando church, and has written articles and drawn cartoons for many religious publications.

In 1966 he began writing and drawing the comic strip Theophilus and later created other cartoon series, such as Our Religious World, The Evangelist, All in the Body, and God Said It Long Before. In the late seventies and early eighties he was editor and publisher of Gospel Teacher, a magazine designed to help Christians be effective ministers and teachers. West is currently involved in full-time ministry, which includes publishing Theophilus and the Powers of Darkness (the comic strip version of his own real-life spiritual journey) and his newest serial comic strip, Our Father's Children, on the internet.
