Fear-Based Mentality

Why do we think negatively? Could it be that we cannot believe for the best, because we fear that things may not happen as we hope?

Then what? We become fearful and start believing that our prayers do not work. And we do not want to be disappointed again. Or we are fearful that if we confess positive thoughts, we will be embarrassed if they prove to be wrong.

Some may even believe that they do not deserve the best. Therefore they automatically speak negative words based on fear.

There are so many reasons for a fear-based mentality, but we must make a decision to have faith in God. We can learn to put all of our faith in Him, trust His Word, and base our lives on that Word. Our faith in God comes from getting to know Him. Every word He has spoken is true. You can believe it, rely on it, and base your life on it. Your complete faith in God can change your outlook on life and change your fear to faith. But first you must get to know Him.

A quote that I love from Luci Swindoll is, "When we are caught up in the celebration of God, there is no room for negative living."

We can choose to get "caught up" in the celebration of God. This is a celebration that is ongoing, not just a one-time situation. It is a way of life, day after day. It is all about putting God in our everyday living in every detail of our lives. When you choose to do this, your faith will begin to grow and your way of thinking will change from fear-based mentality to faith-based mentality.

My mother was a woman who had great faith in God. She taught me to have faith in God when I was a small child. She told me that God could do anything. I believed her then, and I believe her now. I am convinced that my faith in God brought me through some very difficult trials in my life. Instead of running from Him, I ran to Him with all of my faith and courage, trusting and believing His Word and His plan for my life.

Even in the midst of the trials, I made the choice to let my faith in God guide me into a better place. I refused to let fear-based thoughts come in. I learned to pray, "Your will be done," knowing that God would bring me through the hard times. It is a matter of releasing your faith and not being afraid of the outcome.

God wants us to trust Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. He will take our faith and use it for His glory and for our good. Faith-filled thoughts and words will bring you through every time.

This is my prayer for you today: "May today be all you need it to be. May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule your dreams tonight, and conquer all your fears. May God manifest Himself today in ways you have never experienced. May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers answered according to God's perfect will."
