SPANISH FORK — The owner of a Spanish Fork restaurant has been arrested and accused of being sexually inappropriate with a teenage employee.
On Thursday, Kevin Gerald Bowman, a 42-year-old resident of Spanish Fork, was arrested on charges of forcible sexual abuse and lewdness. The alleged incident involved a 16-year-old employee at his restaurant in Spanish Fork.
The investigation into the matter commenced on June 8 after a 16-year-old girl reported to the police that she had been sexually assaulted by Kevin while she was working at Teriyaki Madness, as stated in a police booking affidavit.
Police say Bowman is the owner of the restaurant at 788 N. 800 East.
Additionally, he appears to be a member of an LDS Bishopric in Spanish Fork Utah.
According to the affidavit, the girl informed the police that Bowman frequently made inappropriate remarks about her appearance, referred to her as “beautiful” and “gorgeous,” and also touched her breasts and brushed against her buttocks.
During her conversation with the detectives, the girl described multiple incidents. One involved Bowman dropping his shorts and standing in front of her wearing “see-through” mesh underwear, supposedly to show her his sunburn. Another incident entailed Bowman inappropriately touching her while applying itching cream to her. Additionally, she mentioned a second occasion when he inappropriately touched her.
Bowman underwent questioning at the Spanish Fork Police Department on Thursday, during which he denied several of the allegations and provided different versions of events compared to the girl’s account, as stated in the arrest report.
“I advised Kevin it was concerning that he is a 42-year-old male and the victim is a 16-year-old female and he pulled down his pants to show her his sunburn. Kevin advised she asked to see it. He was advised that was bizarre behavior and it was also bizarre behavior for him to be applying cream to her back, especially by going under her shirt,” the arresting officer wrote.
Approximately 40 minutes after arriving at the police station, Bowman informed the detectives that he would no longer answer any further questions. Subsequently, he was placed under arrest and handcuffed.
